SCAR REDUCTION · SOUTHWEST HOUSTON
Advanced Scar Reduction Treatments in Houston, TX
J9 Clinic & Med Spa offers scar reduction treatment in Houston for acne scars, surgical and injury scars, and stretch marks. Our clinic is at 11861 S Sam Houston Pkwy W, Suite A (77031), with a second clinic on Bintliff Dr. We start by identifying your scar type, because a rolling acne scar, a C-section scar, and a stretch mark each respond to different treatments. Then we build a plan with a written price before you commit. Sessions start at $149, and the first consultation is free.

Our Treatments
Scar Reduction Services in Houston
Plans combine these treatments based on your scar type, skin tone, and downtime.
- Microneedling (collagen induction). Fine needles create controlled micro-injuries that prompt new collagen to fill and smooth depressed scars. It is well suited to rolling and boxcar acne scars and to textured surgical scars. From $199 per session.
- Morpheus8 RF microneedling. This adds radiofrequency heat through the needles to reach deeper and tighten the skin. It is useful for deeper acne scarring, stretch marks, and scars on the body. Price quoted at consultation.
- Skin resurfacing and medical-grade peels. These even out texture and the dark or red marks that often sit around a scar. They are often paired with microneedling. From $149 per session.
- Hyperpigmentation treatment. This targets the brown marks left after acne, which many people mistake for scars. From $129 per session.
A straight answer up front: no treatment erases a scar completely. Good treatment makes a scar flatter, smoother, and closer to your surrounding skin, so it draws less attention.

Scar Problems We Treat
Different scars need different tools. This table shows how we match them.
| Scar type | What it looks like | Usual first approach at J9 |
|---|---|---|
| Rolling acne scars | Wide, soft dips that make skin look wavy in side light | Microneedling or Morpheus8 |
| Boxcar acne scars | Round or oval depressions with sharp edges | Microneedling plus resurfacing |
| Icepick acne scars | Narrow, deep pits | Hardest to treat with microneedling alone. We will tell you honestly what to expect. |
| Post-acne marks | Flat brown or red spots, no change in texture | Hyperpigmentation treatment or peels (not technically scars) |
| Surgical and C-section scars | Lines that are raised, indented, or a different color from nearby skin | Microneedling or RF microneedling once fully healed |
| Injury and burn scars (mild) | Uneven texture or color after the wound has closed | Assessed case by case |
| Stretch marks | Red or purple (newer) or silvery-white (older) lines | Morpheus8; newer marks respond better than older ones. See also skin firming after weight loss |
When Scar Treatment at a Med Spa Isn’t the Right First Step
Keloids
Keloids grow beyond the original wound and can return after treatment. They usually need a dermatologist’s care, such as steroid injections. If you have a keloid, we will refer you rather than needle it.
Fresh wounds or recent surgery
Wait until the skin has fully closed and your surgeon has cleared you.
Active acne breakouts
These should be controlled first. Treating scars over active acne can spread inflammation.
Recent acne medication
Tell us about anything you have taken in the last two years, such as isotretinoin. Some medications change when it is safe to start.
Is Scar Treatment Safe for Darker Skin?
Yes, with the right choice of treatment. Microneedling and RF microneedling are considered safe for all skin tones, because they work beneath the surface without the surface heat some lasers use.
The main risk for medium and darker skin is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: dark patches that can follow aggressive treatment. We reduce that risk by assessing your skin type first, starting at conservative settings, and spacing sessions properly. We may also recommend preparing your skin beforehand.
How Scar Reduction Treatment Works at J9
Call
Phone +1 281-809-5115. Tell us the scar’s location and age, and we will book you at the closest clinic.
Free assessment (about 30 minutes)
We examine the scar in good light and check your skin type. We also review your medications and history of keloids or cold sores, and take baseline photos.
Written quote
You get the recommended treatments, the number of sessions, the spacing between them, and the total cost before you commit.
Treatment
Most sessions take 30–60 minutes, including numbing cream. Expect redness similar to a sunburn for one to three days. Mild swelling is possible after RF microneedling.
Aftercare and review
Use gentle skincare and daily sunscreen. Avoid makeup for about 24 hours and skip active ingredients such as retinoids for several days. We compare against your baseline photos at follow-up and adjust the plan.
Cost of Scar Reduction Treatment in Houston
At J9, scar treatment sessions start at $149, microneedling starts at $199 per session, and the consultation is free. Most people need a series rather than one visit.
A worked example: a series of three resurfacing sessions at the $149 starting price comes to $447. Four microneedling sessions at $199 come to $796. Your quote may be higher or lower depending on these factors:
- Scar type and depth. Deep rolling or boxcar scarring usually needs more sessions than shallow texture.
- Area size. Cheeks alone cost less than full-face treatment, and a small surgical scar costs less than a stretch-marked abdomen.
- Treatment type. RF microneedling costs more per session than standard microneedling.
- Combination plans. Alternating two treatments can reduce the total number of visits.
Scar treatment for cosmetic reasons is usually not covered by insurance.

Scar Reduction FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
Most acne and surgical scar plans use 3–6 sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart. Shallow texture may need fewer. Deep or widespread scarring may need more, plus maintenance.
When will I see results?
Skin texture often looks smoother within a few weeks of the first session. Collagen keeps building for about three months after each treatment, so the full result shows two to three months after your final session.
Does it hurt?
We apply numbing cream before microneedling and RF microneedling. Most people describe the feeling as pressure or prickling, followed by warmth for a few hours.
How much downtime should I plan for?
Usually one to three days of redness. Plan around important events: book your last session at least two weeks before.
Can old scars still improve?
Yes. Mature acne and surgical scars can still respond to collagen-stimulating treatment, though very old, white stretch marks improve less than newer red ones.
How soon after surgery can I treat a scar?
Only once the incision has fully closed and your surgeon has cleared you. Bring your surgery date to the consultation.
Do you treat keloids?
We assess them, but keloids usually need a dermatologist and can recur. We will refer you rather than risk making one worse.
Individual results vary. Treatments reduce the appearance of scars and do not remove them.
